Intermediate Salsa
These 4-week courses are taught at a much faster pace than Beginners' Salsa, and movements are unlikely to be "walked through", on the assumption that all students will know all the basic steps from Absolute Beginners' Salsa and be able to combine them with turns and breaks without interlinking Mambo movements.
Students' understanding of, and ability to follow, the Salsa beat must also be thoroughly competent.
Steps remain on the basic 123 567 Salsa rhythm and, although you may now learn fewer steps per week, they will be of a more intricate nature than you have learned before.
Improvers' Salsa introduces longer sequences of movements, lasting 4 to 6 counts of eight, which are significantly more challenging than the 2 to 3 counts encountered in Beginners' Salsa.
You will learn offside leadership and 1 or 2 hand changes within movements and Improvers will be expected to have already developed effective leadership and following skills.
Like Beginners' Salsa lessons, each 4-week course of lessons will focus on a specific topic, such as multiple turning and hook crosses. A lot of technique is taught at this level and, as with Beginners' Salsa courses, most students will need to complete several courses at this level to cover enough ground to have reached an all-round standard which would allow them to move up to Intermediate Salsa.
Many students are happy to go no further than Improvers' Salsa. There's so much to learn at this level that we can ensure that every 4-week course is new, interesting, challenging and, of course, lost of fun.
Our intention is that you will be able to dance to a variety of styles of Salsa at this level, making your social dancing options more diverse.
Each 4-week, closed course costs just £20. Open classes cost £6 each. Or find out about discounts available with Todo Credits.
