The wonderful Adam Parnell is returning to Nottingham, some of you have been lucky enough to attend his musicality workshops in Nottingham with George Donoghue, Adam is returning this time to focus on the Conga and Bongo drums and their role within Salsa music – the workshop is split in two parts with space for 14 people in total – 7 Conga and 7 Bongo will be provided on the day.

The Workshop

We’ll start at 10:30 til 12:30 break for lunch then start again at 2pm til 4pm. All attendees will have the opportunity to play both type of drums and to cover the following content:

This workshop is designed to teach you the fundamental patterns of salsa on the conga and bongo drums.

  • In the first session we’ll look at the tumbao patterns of the conga, some simple variations and some improvisation.
  • In the second session we’ll be exploring the matillo pattern of the bongo, repiques and soloing ideas.

This workshop will be primarily aimed at dancers with little or no musical experience.

We’ll be taking things right back to basics but there will be plenty of opportunity for development if you’ve already had a stab at playing hand drums before.

Due to the equipment required and to allow Adam to help each member of the workshop there is a limit of 14 places on a first come first served basis – Please book with Amanda directly for this workshop by contacting Amanda to confirm that there are spaces available – when payment has been received your place will be secured.
