Frequently Asked Questions

These are the questions we get asked most often.

We try to keep this list as relevant and up to date as possible, however if you have a question not answered please feel free to e-mail Amanda.

When does the next course start?

Our Beginners Salsa courses are every 8 weeks with Improvers and Intermediate level courses running every 4 weeks.

Check the calendar to find "week 1" of the course you're interested in joining.

What style of Salsa do you teach?

Primarily Cuban style Salsa with an emphasis on freestyle techniques and social dancing.

Can I try a class before I commit to the course?

Yes, simply turn up on the first night of a new term and you need only pay for the first class. After trying an hour long class you can then decide if you'd like to continue with the rest of the course.

Do I need to bring a partner?

No, there's no requirement to bring a partner in order to join our classes. We frequently change and rotate dance partners within the group.

Every male (leader) will typically dance with every female (follower) within a class.

You're of course still welcome to bring your partner or any other number of friends.

We'd like to encourage you to meet new people and make friends and sometimes this is easier when you come on your own! Be brave we're a friendly bunch. :)

What if there are odd numbers?

We frequently switch partners during class so that everybody will dance with everybody else. i.e. Every male 'Leader' will dance with every female 'Follower' and we will always do our best to ensure courses are subscribed with a balanced number of men to women.

What should I wear to a lesson?

The main thing is to feel comfortable and able to move freely and easily without being restricted. When it comes to footwear just don't mention stilletoes!

Read Amanda's short Guide on How to Dress for Salsa and you'll feel right at home.

Do I have to purchase a full course?

This isn't essential, however it offers better value than paying per class.

How do your classes work?

Our classes are structured into blocks of 4 or 8 week mini courses.

Our 8 week Beginners course will always follow the same format to allow anybody with no prior experience to quickly learn the basics in order to progress to Improver level.

Our shorter Improvers and Intermediate courses are constantly kept varied and different to ensure you're learning new dance moves and proper technique.

How much do classes cost?

Please refer to our prices page for full information. You may either pay on a per lesson basis or a full course (4 or 8 weeks depending on level)

The pay as you dance rate is typically £6 per class (student discounts are available) or purchase a full course in advance to receive better value.

Can I pay on the night?

Yes, we accept cash payment on the night for either a full course or an individual class.

What if I miss or cannot attend a lesson?

We encourage you to make up a missed class by attending one of our alternative classes of the same level and ability. This does not cost any extra.

If you feel you'll be too far behind, you may also like to consider having a private lesson to make up any missed ground.

Can I bring my own drink?

Please don't bring your own drinks into our classes.

The reason we ask this is because our regular classes all take place at licensed venues that sell soft drinks and alcohol. Please support our venues by purchasing a drink so we can continue to provide you with affordable classes.

However please feel free to bring along a drink when attending any of the dance studios we work with to provide workshops or private lessons.

How will I know if a class is cancelled?

If a schedueld class is ever cancelled we'll do our very best to reasonably notify you via our website, Twitter and Facebook Group or Fan Page.

However if in any doubt, please contact Amanda or ring the venue ahead of time.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash payments and Todo Credits for individual classes on the night. Full courses can be purchased in advance from our website.
