How Do You Like Your Salsa?
The most popular social dance in the world today, Salsa is a generic term which blends steps and movements of Hispanic, African and Caribbean origin while retaining a number of quite distinct styles.
Dominican Salsa
Falling between the looser style of Cuban Salsa and the intricate New York style, Dominican Salsa requires your feet to become percussion instruments, defined by and responding to the music. Although this style of Salsa appears relaxed, it requires precise timing and an intuitive anticipation of changes in the musical pace and rhythm.
Learn to Salsa in Nottingham with Wilson Castro, seven times undefeated Salsa champion of the Dominican Republic.
Columbian Salsa
Like Dominican Salsa, Columbian Salsa features incredibly fast footwork. Because this style does not cover much ground, dancing almost on the spot, it is particularly suited to crowded dance floors.
Cuban Salsa
You can recognize this style of Salsa by its intricate arm movements, rhythmic body motion, fast steps and the fact that the leader (usually the man), moves backwards when in other styles of Salsa he would move forwards. Although the complex movements make it look more difficult, we’ll teach you the basic steps you need then it’s up to you to practice, practice, practice.
Rueda Del Mundo
A form of Cuban Salsa danced in a circle or wheel. Steps are called to the leader of each couple.

Puerto Rican Salsa
In this flamboyant style of Salsa there is a great deal of emphasis on footwork, or “shines” which means that both partners show off their skills individually.
New York Salsa
A real hybrid of Puerto Rican and Afro-Caribbean Salsa, New York Salsa is a cross body style which incorporates elements of the Latin hustle and mambo.
